Sorry Peaboy...but that is just wrong. Native 1080p sets do upconversion standard definition DVD and 720p and 1080i sources to "synthesized 1080p". This means you do not get higher resolution per se...but you do get TWICE as many pixels as 720p and proportionally more than DVD. (Same resolution as 1080i but no interlace effects.)This means LESS pixelation on larger sets and when sitting close. That may not matter to you given the current price differential...BUT...in NO WAY is the imaging degraded.
