It's been a while since I was down that way, not since my Governor's Cup days. The place to anchor if you plan to go ashore and visit the historic sites is inside of Horseshoe Bend (no point going beyond, the brothel has long since closed! ). That anchorage was a sight for sore eyes on many a bleary-eyed morning.

I can't counsel about places to eat -- we always went straight for the tent where they were serving coffee, and later breakfast, and eventually barbecue.

But if you really want a smokey bar, and have access to wheels, the Green Door is up the street a ways. Donnybrook has bragging rights to making it there from Annapolis in time for last call on more than one occasion of the Governor's Cup. No small feat, considering the 75 n.m race begins at about 7 pm!
