I can''t answer your question concerning Directv,or Dish Network,but I have a system that works very good on my boat. I purchased one of the tv antennas from, I believe Shakespeare(looks kind of like a miniature U.S.S.Enterprise from Star-Trek), and a 10" Panasonic flat plasma screen tv.The antenna is mounted on top of my mast.It has an amplifier that strengthens the signal powered by 12 volts.I mounted it beside my breaker switch panel. The Panasonic tv has a set up feature to use when you''re in a different area.It scans over 100 available channels and locks into memory the ones with strong signals. So far, I''ve used the system aboard while in SC,and the Florida Keys.In both locations,I was able to get really good reception for about half a dozen channels.Boat swing had no effect on the reception. Granted it''s not DirectTV, but there''s no monthly charge :^)
