Selfishly, I'm quite happy to have the violence happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, rather than on American soil. Because, I have no doubt what-so-ever, there will be violence. To think otherwise, in light of both the Islamic terrorist's words and deeds, is at best, naive.

ok-- then why the theatrics of the embarrassing "mission accomplished show?clearly bush wanted to claim victory.
agreed that the "global war on terrorism" could last eons if we really try to kill all muslims as some of you suggest. but other than the despised iranians wo do we kill next? anyone in a foreign country who burns an American flag?
seriously think about how to conduct such a war. absent blatant attacks on us, what happens next?
I also do not think any of our politicians ever thougt the war in iraq would last longer than WWII the big one. going into i think everyone had an expectation that we would whip the terrorists in iraq and afghan, bring the boys/girls home for a big parade and maybe unfurl a big "mission Accomplished banner. oops, bush did that what--4 years ago and some 3,000 lives later.

sorry, but i think Bush (or now) the next president needs to state clearly what the end state is for this war. if we keep so many troops in iraq, them cam's dream of invading iran won't be possible.
