I think the point that sway was (I thought more than adequately) making is that if you believe in your campaign platform, then
of course you should "sell your soul" for votes. Sure, if you assume all politicians are by definition evil then obviously it's bad not to have limits on campaign spending. But then hey, we might as well disallow campaigning entirely. If you suspect that maybe out there a good person is running for office, then you must recognize that campaign finance restrictions are restrictions on that person's freedom of speech.
