Uh, actually yes they do. Just as SAT scores are a very good predictor of college performance, college performance is a pretty good predictor of life performance. One finds a paucity of college graduates in prisons.

Now, I'll part ways with that analysis in it's implication that the "smartest" man is always the best man for the job of President or other public office. As in most other areas of life, intelligence alone is hardly as good a predictor of success as is work ethic, morality, and personal habits and standards. As the lower ranked college graduate often becomes one of the most successful graduates in his career, the politician with clarity of vision and a clearly defined goal is often the most successful. He doesn't have to be a watchmaker to not only know what time it is but what needs to be done at that time. And George W. Bush is an excellent example of this. One does not have to be an expert in the supposed grievances of the Middle East to know that their holders are a threat requiring a response. The appropriate response to 9/11 was not to commission a study on the matter as we would, interminably, on such as social security policy.
