Books for a newbie?
After reading all the technical books and learning how to do the basics, get a copy of "Elements of Seamanship", by Richard Henderson I think and published by IM Publishing (but I don''t know if it is still in print).
It is a very thin book that does not tell you the mechanics of how to sail, but gives plenty of philosophy on how to sail. Chapter titles are like "Keeping the water out", "Keeping her going", Keeping your reputation", etc. It did the most for my sailing than all the other books combined.
