Are you sure it's a transmission cooler? If it is there is little point in topping up engine oil.
Also, I can't recall ever seeing a setup on which there is an oil pressure guage on the transmission so if the pressure is dropping it is unlikely to be a transmission that is dodgy.
This is certainly confusing. If the cooler is not leaking with the engine running, then it could be a transmission cooler and will only leak again once the tranny is engaged. If it is a hydraulic transmission (Borg Warner Velvet Drive or similar) it will stop turning when it runs out of oil.
