I'm no Constitutional scholar, I don't understand the uproar over telecom's providing data on who did what on the internet, phones etc. and being granted immunity for it, in fact, no immunity was needed as it violates no law or right.
What you do in public is public, in public there is no 'right' to privacy other than those worked in by our supreme court.
This:
Amendment 4
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and
effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or
affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the
persons or things to be seized.
Protects us from the government, not private parties, businesses etc..That is to say, if you come to my store and browse the Widget items, I can send that information to teh maker of Widget listing you as a potential customer, and post on this and any other venue as I see fit.
Now I don't like the warrantless aspect of this, nor the random search/data dump - but I'm not quibbling on that, just the whole 'right' thing.
Some tell me I'm wrong, and list where it says different (not opinion, factually).
