What is actually amazing is that, at record gas prices, and fighting two separate wars, is that the economy is doing as well as it is. Earlier this year after a fall of chicken little we were told repeatedly that we were in recession, gleefully by some lib-jobs, so where's the negative growth? Yes, I'd call it a mental recession.

Viagra versus the pill? Aside from wasting my time responding, you're wasting your time if you think the American people are going to elect a president based upon his position on viagra versus birth-control payments.

On the other hand, the Loon tunes at The Nation are reading the situation a whole lot better than their erstwhile followers. Obama is starting not so much McCain whom he's running against as he is President Bush against whom it was marketed that he was running against. On issues such as foreign policy, national security, and terror it's difficult to run against the mature adult position for long and imagine actually living in the White House. That no one actually knows what Obama truly thinks deep inside is reason to believe that the election is McCain's to lose.
Sway-- yes, IMHO the economy is being held together right now with smoke and mirrors. Face it, people have no money. The home equity well is dry because of how far home values have fallen. Same for values of 401K's and IRA's. hundreds of thousands are out of work with more losses in the offing people have lost trillions of dollars in equity in the last year one way or another. Sure, we may not be in a recession using the classic definition, but maybe that old definition doesn't apply today. Gramm could at least use some common sense by not making McCain look even worse than he does already on the economy especially when he is supposed to be in Michigan convincing voters he feels their pain and the message from his chief economic advisor is "stop your whining." Some leadership there.

i was not implying that the Viagra/birth control issue is a big deal. It"s not in the scheme of things.. the big deal is how poorly McCain responded. he looked like he was undergoing a root canal. hopefully he won't babble like that when the phone rings at 3AM. Not a
presidential looking moment in the least. he looks like a doddering old man. YOU should see it-- even you'd be embarrassed for him! check it out here..YouTube - Countdown: McCain Needs Viagra Not Birth Control 7/10/08

yes, I agree the election is McCain's to lose. Given how little headway he made while the Dems were still fighting it out--good God hillary did his work for him for how long???-- johnny should have a lead in the polls and not barack. McCain frittered away that advantage and since then has only dug the hole deeper with the help of his retooled campaign.
Looks like the main race now is who can run the worse campaign. johnny has a leg up on that one right now---two goofs right out of the chute from his retooled campaign. I still prefer the "none of the above" lever.
