Cool Modified junk rig

"Looks like a junk rig." If that is a remark about my rig, BigCat 65's rig is indeed a modified junk rig-modified in 2 ways-it has a foil shape to eliminate mast drag and turbulence where it is inside the sail, and it is hinged to give it camber so it will sail to windward much better than a flat junk sail. A number of people have put camber into junk rigs in the last couple of decades. It is much discussed on the Yahoo junk rig group. You can't beat the junk rig for ease of handling, and I think my mods will make it at least as weatherly as a standard marconi rig. Gary Hoyt claims his rig isn't much like a junk rig, but it is very similar, IMHO, and my opinion is a very experienced one, when it comes to junk rigs. You can see it at 65 Foot Sailing Catamaran Design by Tim Dunn.
