if I'm solo, I'll usually put on the PFD if it's blowing 15+ --- once I have to reef the main, I consider the PFD, and I'll often put it on when I go forward to rig my docking line while I'm under power on autopilot for a few seconds... lots of powerboat wakes to deal with at times, as you know around here/there; I'll also often wear it while docking just in case I slip and fall in.
