paul77 is on a distinguished road
boat delivery Seattle to San Francisco..

So an opportunity has come up and my wife and I will be moving in short order to the San Francisco area from Seattle. (we decided this past weekend.. yeah it's a little nuts)..

We need to obvious get this done before the weather window closes, so this is happening next month. We also need a delivery skipper, not only to keep the insurance company happy but also as I won't be able to go myself..

I'm looking for advice on people who've moved their boat down self or otherwise -- what typical cost I would expect for the skipper? What should I look for? It seems like there are middle men out there for this? I have friends who would be up for crewing, what kind of sailing experience do they expect for crew.

As an alternate to a big delivery -- is it reasonable at all to try and move down in shorter increments on weekends?

We have the regular USCG required safety gear. Dropped off the liferaft today, the EPIRB will be dropped off tomorrow probably.

Probably get an engine check up (it's not due, but still), get the rig tune checked (it's 1/2" rigging, I have not been able to find a gauge for this to do myself??)

(Crew wanted didn't seem like quite the right place for the more general question, though I'll probably post something there. Apologies to mods if i'm doing something wrong!)
