Hi,

My boat came with a cruising chute. She doesn't have a separate block at the masthead for the spinnaker halyard. It appears the PO used the spare jib halyard (green line, mounted on the starboard sheave) to hoist the chute.

That seems to work OK on a port tack. I haven't tried it on a starboard tack yet, because it appears the halyard will foul the headstay, which terminates above the internal sheave.

Does anyone else use the spare jib halyard to hoist a chute? If so, how does it work in the situation described above.
