I had an asym on my C34 and used the spare jib halyard for a while. The trick is to do an outward gybe so the halyard goes outside of the headstay. I eventually had a "crane" mounted on the top of the mast to which I attached a block and ran a dedicated halyard down the mast.
If you only use the asym occasionally you should be able to make do with what you have. I would suggest periodic checks with binoculars to make sure you don't have a crossover mess gathering at the top of the mast. A crossover could cause big time problems with the proper operation of your roller furling genoa.
