Multi tools

I''ve had a few Leathermans, a SwissTool and several Gerber MultiPliers. I use my Gerber at work so much that I bought another and as one is out for repairs the other is on the job. While the Gerber''s tool assortment and one-handed deployment are perfect for me at work, it doesn’t rate too well on the boat. The SwissTool gets high marks but its polished surface gives a questionable grip with wet and cold hands, although its large size and heft tend to help. Its price can make one hesitate to use it when its loss may be imminent. The Leatherman SuperTool 200 gets my vote as the best all around aboard the boat. Those people seem to know what accessories a handyman needs and what he expects from a multi. Versatility and strength are the main selling points here. Once you’re familiar with its operation, single-handed deployment is easy.
