So, just to be clear on this, looking at my sail on the living room floor right now, the bolt rope is definately shorter than the sail. If this should not be so, then my sail has stretched (doubt this since there is still 5" of boom on the boat with the sail hoisted fully), or the bolt rope has shrunk. The bolt rope is stiched into the sail on the top 5" and bottom 5". There is noticeable wrinkling of the sail near the bottom due to the short bolt rope. I am considering removing the stiching at the bottom, pulling the rope thru, and then restitching. I am also adding my own slugs using a kit from Marine Fabrics, Sailcloth, Sail Kits, Canvas and Sail Hardware for Do-It-Yourself
(slugs and shackles) as per this web page: Adding Sail Slugs
. I guess the real question is whether the bolt rope is supposed to be shorter that the luff of the sail.
