I would like to thank everyone who responded to my inqueries On the cutter rig modification, and after carefull consideration, research, and your many opinions and tips, I have decided that the cutter rig would produce a neglegable upwind gain and would upset the balence greatly. As many of you have indicated, I think the answer lies in deviating from the stock Macgregor rig tuning and sails. I have read about some Mac owners simply reducing the mast rake and getting better performence and a more balenced helm.
