While no fan of McCain, I think that does both him and, more importantly, Palin a disservice. While I strongly suspect her being a woman
helped in her being picked by McCain, I suspect it was her being an
accomplished woman, and one in McCain's mold, that did it.

ICBW, but ISTM it's more often the right/GOP that advances women and minorities, whereas the left/Dems seem to patronize the "disadvantaged."
