No doubt all you right-wingers have been waiting for the independent view of Sarah Palin. Those of you who bother to read my posts know I am no fan of either candidate. Obama is too slippery to suit me, and I question McCain’s temperament and judgment to run the country. In short they both are typical lying politicians. I also think both have run pathetic campaigns. Obama has made a number of gaffs that McCain should have capitalized on to form a lead. But he has not been able to do that. He and his advisors also have made a number of mistakes that now make this race dead even in most polls.
S
o McCain selects a real dark horse for his vp pick. Why? Perhaps out of desperation because his campaign has had no traction until now? And he hopes that Hillary’s followers will vote for a pro-lifer with the overall political views of Dick Cheney? Perhaps he is right, but the Palin pick is a big roll of the dice for him.
And as for why he picked her after meeting with her one time (which I do think is quite peculiar to put it mildly), it seems logical given McCain’s apparent view of women. Beauty queen for wife #2 (after unceremoniously dumping a crippled and overweight wife #1, but didn’t divorce her until he had the beauty queen waiting in the wings) so it’s perhaps logical to go with a beauty queen VP.
Say what you will about experience, but at least Obama has been on the national stage for over 4 years rubbing elbows with the powerful while Palin was at PTA meetings, attending youth hockey games, being a part-time mayor of a town of 6,500 and defeating a corrupt governor 2 years ago. Could it be that it's been easy for her to shine in a state of 600,000. Her statewide popularity is perhaps due to big increases in the state payouts to her fellow Alaskans she has approved because of the increases in state income due to the increase in the price of oil and natural gas we all are paying. Will have to see how this nastiness involving her and her husband’s roles in firing a public safety head for not firing her former brother-in-law turns out for a more complete look at her ability to stamp out corruption in the state.
