alot ot boats just have a hole put in at manufacture, a small bronze (like 1/4")through hull would be best for you (try used marine exchange or e-bay). The ScanMars (they used to be sold in Rock Hall on the other side of the bay from you) keep their propane tank in the anchor locker, if there were a gas leak it would just leak overboard.
