This is probably a much better solution than draining it to the bilge. Anchor lockers can have some truly nasty water in them, since it can often hav e mud, bottom goo, slime, etc from the anchor or anchor chain in it. If it goes directly overboard it won't stink up the whole boat.
My anchor locker drains into the thruhull that drains down the side of the hull of the boat near the bow.
