Free, no one that I know of doesn't think Bush screwed it up in the beginning, but one test of leadership is admitting you're wrong, and then correcting the problem.
It also illustrates the difference between McCain (yeah, that's the guy Obama is supposed to be running against) and Obama. McCain saw the problem, suggested a way to fix it. Obama saw the problem and tried to run away from it.
Another difference this illustrates between the two, is that while McCain has said, I don't care who gets the credit, let's just get it done. Obama implies, yeah it worked, but it was just luck, rather than admit McCain was right.
