Good advice so far. I lean toward "try before buy". You are young and the education is expensive(and time-consuming). Obviously it would be easier to find a job if you had the training. But which courses?

The order I like: canvas work, rigging, electronics/electrical, diesel, and HVAC.

Dislike: bottom work, fiberglass repair, gelcoat repair, and high places.

I can tell you for sure that there are NO easy jobs in a marina. Every project is one where there is no room to swing the wrench or the arm of the sewing machine is too short. But it is where I spend all my free time(when I am not sailing).
