you're worried about the DEMS? The REPUBS wanted (and still want) to give our social security money to those jokers on Wall St. You ought to be damn glad the Dems blocked it or all of that money would be down the tubes.

How big a financial disaster is needed for it to be clear to Repubs that the obsession with deregulation, greed is good, anything goes capitalism has not worked - in fact it is bringing us a meltdown that is starting to merit comparison with the 1930's? We now have NATIONALIZED the mortgage financing markets in the USA. This is not a good thing but is a direct result of the deregulation and lack of oversight that has been so fashionable in recent decades.

Dont get me wrong - Both Dems and Repubs have their share of the blame for the current mess. But for the Repubs to CONTINUE to resist regulation when large Wall st. banks are going bust while executives walk away with multimillion dollar pay packages as a reward for running their companies into the ground it doesnt sit well with me. In fact it is ridiculous because whether you like it or not, the government now OWNS large parts of the financial system.

We need people who actually WANT to do the regulation and oversight that is needed. The guys on Wall St. obvioiusly cant be trusted. The Repubs who want to continue to enable them cant either. If you doubt that, look at what mr. Mccain said yesterday - He blamed "greed" for the problems. No hint of recognition that we need to reestablish regulatory control or that his millionaire buddies should pay a steep price for their incompetence.

Million dollar severance packages? Bah. THey should be shining shoes.
