Your insurance company is going to be involved one way or the other. I would make the claim and let them sort it out with the other boats owner. You want to be covered NOW, not be making claims later. Insurance companies pull out of hurricane areas after every hurricane. You may be looking for a new insurer in the near future anyway, may as well make sure that you get some of your premiums back.
