I'd contact your insurance company and get the claim documented. They probably won't waste any time going to the other insurance company, and you would likely see faster results. I haven't had to make a claim for my boat, but on a homeowner's claim I was made whole quickly by my company, who then went after the neighbor's insurance for reimbursement.
