Anybody feel like making predictions on the debates ?
I think McCain will do well with specifics and show a good mastery of the subjects. McCain weakness, he might get mad, he's done that before. Man needs to chill out sometimes. I've been surprised on occasion how mean McCain can come across, and not like good passionate committed to the cause mean, but like, goes home and kicks the dog mean. I think McCain does well if he tries to pin Obama down on ANYTHING specific, because Obama is really lousy with specifics because he tries to CYA everything he says so much. I hope McCain doesn't say anything about being a prisoner of war. That is true, and everyone knows it, but it works a lot better when he himself never mentions it.
Obama, I think he's going to be quick on his feet, probably get a few good lines in on McCain. I think Obama comes across as too much of an ass kisser when he says nice things about McCain, he should stop that. I think the hard part for Obama is that this is a lot longer than just a 10 second clip on CNN, and it isn't prepared ahead of time like all the zingers he throws on the campaign trail, so he risks coming across as evasive when he is doing his usual vague big warm fuzzy thing that he does. That stuff looks great for about 10 minutes, but I'm not sure that's going to fly in a long debate with McCain when specifics are being discussed. Obama also really confuses the hell out of people when he tries to be so precise about everything he says. He tries so hard to cover his ass to make sure that nobody can use a single thing he's said against him that all of his half measures and conditional statements make it sound like he's either trying to bullxxxx you, that he doesn't know what he's talking about, or that he's too chicken xxxx to actually say what he means.
