McCain made an astute move by "suspending" his campaign to return to DC for the "crisis". Unfortunately he failed to follow up on it, after embarrassing Obama to return as well. Were he astute, instead of an arrogant member of the Senate (which is really a redundant description of all Senators), he would have allied himself with the House Republicans who are arguing for an increased role of the financial industry in the bailout as well as less risk/burden for taxpayers. These are the same congressmen he is going to have to depend on when elected and, not coincidently, the heart of Republican dynamism. What better coup could McCain have than to lay all of this at the feet of such as Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and yes, George Bush who should have canned Paulsen after Bear-Stearns if not sooner.
