Greetings
I live in Vancouver, BC at the moment and will be leaving at the end of October. I moved here in the spring to pursue sailing and have since bought my own little 19' sloop to cruise the local waters and have crewed on a 33' dehler racing sloop and a 28' aloha throughout the summer. I have learned a lot and I am looking to learn even more. At this point I am interested more in the navigation and passage making side of things. So crewing seems to be the next logical step! I am very enthusiastic and motivated to learn all I can and help in whatever way possible while cruising... Cooking/sail repairs(especially)/watch keeping etc... I want to learn as much as I can about offshore sailing. Judging by the seasons it looks like a sensible passage would be from Gibraltar/Canary islands towards the Caribbean. If I can't connect with anybody on here I think I will most likely fly to Gibraltar/Canary islands and hope for the best. Any suggestions on the better option?
As a person I can be sociable but I do enjoy solitude and time to myself as well. I listen to a lot of different types of music and read a lot of books. I live for adventure and exploration... Prior to my interest in sailing I was skydiving/BASE jumping and still currently pursue those sports although they've considerably slowed this past summer. I drink occasionally though not to excess and do not do drugs or smoke. Thanks for reading.
