The average citizen is like a sheep when it comes to leading or following. The reason the general public poll responses are as Rick says (85%) thinks the country is moving in the wrong direction is because thats what they hear almost every source of news. Most of their favored Hollywood stars, Musicians, and idles who are like sheep them selves tells them so. I have watched polls and stats from the media for years and by all indications they are consistently WRONG. Why, take an educated guess.
I have spent the last 6 weeks in 6 different states. I have been in front of between 15 to 125 people on each trip (business) for 2 days. The talk I hear does not represent the polls or statistics. They are quite the opposite. Yes there are issues and problems of concern,(as always) but the general consciences is it's nothing that they have not had to deal with in the past, make the necessary adjustments and move on. As for the election polls, the majority by far (80%) favor McCain over Obama.
Now these are working and business people so maybe that makes a difference. If I go downtown in my city and poll the average individual walking on the street I would not be surprised of the results. They would lean to the left. You make the assumption as to why.
A simple question: How many here have actually been Polled as to their thought about the economy or their vote. I have not and neither has anyone I have come in contact with. That's a few thousand people a year. And yes I have asked the question each time I'm in front of a group.
Look at the poll in this forum compared to the media.
