I have watched polls and stats from the media for years and by all indications they are consistently WRONG. Why, take an educated guess.
I have spent the last 6 weeks in 6 different states. I have been in front of between 15 to 125 people on each trip (business) for 2 days. The talk I hear does not represent the polls or statistics. They are quite the opposite. Yes there are issues and problems of concern,(as always) but the general consciences is it's nothing that they have not had to deal with in the past, make the necessary adjustments and move on. As for the election polls, the majority by far (80%) favor McCain over Obama.
Now these are working and business people so maybe that makes a difference. If I go downtown in my city and poll the average individual walking on the street I would not be surprised of the results. They would lean to the left. You make the assumption as to why.
A simple question: How many here have actually been Polled as to their thought about the economy or their vote. I have not and neither has anyone I have come in contact with. That's a few thousand people a year. And yes I have asked the question each time I'm in front of a group.
Look at the poll in this forum compared to the media.

My father gets calls from pollsters, probably because he is 82, lives alone and loves the attention. And as for other polls and what they show, the ones on Sailnet are an anomaly. every time AOL asks for an opinion, Obama is way ahead. yesterday AOL had a news item about Palin (how she is acting like a diva in the campaign, going off message, and EVEN TALKING TO REPORTERS in an unscripted setting!!!!!!!!!!!!! The usual AOL poll questions about positive/negative imptression of her, was she a mistake, etc. were all heavily against her. Then again, the bush campaign staff is now against her.
