Like they say, those that speak 3 languages are trilingual, 2 languages are bilingual, and one language are American.
When I was on a European tour with the Providence Mandolin Orchestra, I made a point of not asking for translations of the menus. I figured if I didn't like something I ordered, it was my own fault for not knowing the language. I did learn to order bear in the native tongue, even to the point of specifying dark beer.
