And in the report it states that they had to move the keel over. Does that mean these boats are designed with a keel that can swing (on its' y-axis) from port to starboard and vice versa?
yes, the kel swings laterally..they had the keel on the good side..when the boat broached gybed, that keel (cantilever keel is its name) was now on the low side...keeping it heeled.

Also the spi went over the head sail, and poped the other way around...then came the boom, and hit the water too....so now they had keel+main+spi+water all on one side.

It only rights itself after they moved the keel to opposite side and cut a few lines around.
