I would say no preferences one way or the other. Both courses cover almost the same material once you work your way through. In the end you get to the same place. They both are internationally recognized. I think they also cost about the same too.
In the end it''s more a matter the actual instructor than the particular course you take. Instructors are the main thing you want to check out.
I think the best way is to meet and talk with the instructor that would teach your course.
My wife and I did ASA 103 and 104 with San Diego Sailing Academy. They do a course as a liveaboard for two people (one price!) that we liked a lot. It''s a private class every day and you live on the boat. The primary instructors are the owner or his son. These guys are really nice and really know sailing.
Many classes are 4 or 6 people per class, so check out what the boat will be and the size of the class.
