Well, thanks for the thorough reply from you and Rhonda both Dave. The information is very helpful and food for thought in our long term plannning. I can say you're in little danger of learning much from me as my sailing experience so far is about 4 years racing and 2 years coastal crusing. Although I've been doing lots of reading (books and online) regarding the issues raised in this thread, its much appreciated to hear directly from someone actually out there now in just about my same boat (our hull#'s are only 2 apart). Although my long distance voyaging plans are for about 5 years out, I'm equipping quite a bit now and doing as much sailing as I can to build up my skills.
