PVC pipe is not strong enough. If you calculate how much the radome weighs, and multiply that by the length of the pole mount, you get an idea of how much force might be applied at a minimum to the base of the pole mount when the boat rolls—say during a broach or gybe.
Most radar mounting poles I've seen are stainless steel for a reason.
