Well, I've sailed off and on for about 30 years with nothing but tillers. My "car", which is actually a motorcycle has a modified tiller to steer it. About six months ago I bought a Ranger 33 with a wheel. I must say I was torn and not without trepidation, but after sailing a few weeks with the thing, found I really enjoyed it. I really can't say I prefer one over the other, But I can say I'm not missing the tiller.
