I remove the rudder every winter and store at home.
I remove the tiller and the tiller head from the rudder post, support the bottom of the rudder with either another person holding it, or wood blocks, remove the pin from the top of the rudder shaft, and then drop the entire rudder and post straight down. I take it home and store upside down in the garage 'till spring.
Does any have a procedure for removing the rudder from a 1976 Grampian 28? Any help would be appreciated.
Always wise to remove the rudder for winter storage on the hard. This makes sure no water will make its way into the rudder assembly and freeze.
