Get a Belgium Drip pot (aka, cowboy enameled pot). Throw all the basket parts away. Get unbleached cotton cloth and make a sock for the basket. Be sure you have about 2 inches of overlap. Boil the sock in coffee ground and then let it soak for a day or two.

Boil water in a kettle and drip it through the cotton cloth into the pot. The older the sock gets, the better the coffee will taste. This will make the best coffee you have ever had!!!! This is the Cajun way to make coffee. A bag will last about 4 years if rinsed in cold water after use and hung on the sink to dry.

If you have a shallow pan, you can set the pot in a the pan with water and keep the pot hot for about 1 hour. No electricity required.

Yes sailingdog will fuss, but after spending two weeks on a charter boat with a french press, I just had to post a reply to prevent folks from sipping their last sips with clinched teeth :-)
