We're a few hours ahead of others, so here's a report on sailing gifts given and received today.

I gave the wife and kids each a Silva L4 headlamp, with 3 white leds and one red led. It's cool that they can be used on night crossings without damaging night vision. I mentioned they are very good for reading at night, especially on Atlantic crossings on boats without major electrical systems.

I gave the wife a Southwest Spain and Portugal Cruising Companion from Yachting Monthly. I also gave her a Maglight torch for the boat.

The wife gave me Don Casey's Complete Sailboat Maintenance Manual (six books in one).

My son gave his mum a folding bucket for the boat from the Earl's Court Boatshow.

A friend from work gave us a Wooden boat calendar.

The one gift I didn't give was a Contessa 26 for the wife, so she could single-hand without us, and I was a bit surprised by how much she thought that would be a good idea... Here's the boat I shared with her as an option:
