Towing a RIB
I have a 16ft zodiac w/ 50HP outboard and have towed it weekly for 7 years with only the bow eye. I tow with a fairly short floating tow line, and run a second line from a cleat on the tender''s bow. The second line is a good back up, and it also keeps the bow down in waves. It tracks fine. I haven''t towed in more than 6 foot seas, nor would I recommend it.
I learned the hard way about the second line, noticing a tender that looked a lot like mine a mile away with no one on it -- and in the busy shipping channel. hummmmm. What fool.....?
