Yanmar 2QM15 Problem

I have a 3QM30. A friend has a 1Q and another a 2Q.

Check for water in fuel. The high pressure fuel pump is quite sensitive to water. It is quite expensive to have overhauled or replaced. A bad load of fuel can do this. Change your filters.

Secondly, I have primed these by barely loosening the hex at the top of each injector adjacent the fuel line while the engine idles. Fuel will come out along with air. Do one at a time. Collect loose fuel with a rag.

Third, if you haven''t already done this, check for water in the crankcase by viewing the oil on the dip stick. If it is milky, you have more serious problems such as a blown head gasket or cracked block.

Additionally, check your air filter to be sure it is clear.

Also be sure the supply (low pressure pump) is providing fuel to the high pressure pump by opening a fitting or hose on its outlet and checking for flow.
