The Jan/Feb issue of Ocean Navigator has what I think to be an informative article dealing with the limitations of
radar. Even if you have
radar on your vessel it's easy to make (false) assumptions about how effective
radar on other boats is in "seeing" you. In other words, all
radar systems are not created equal and all have various limitations and capabilities. The ON article is worth a read if for no other reason than to stimulate some thought on the subject. It will certainly make me think twice on the water as to if and how my boat may appear on another vessel's radar (especially the big boys) in vaious weather and sea conditions. Best regards for a great New Year everyone.
