Yes, You could put more money and more material into some part... and come in tenth or so, because you're heavy. Isn't that part of the point ?
(Humbly accepting that I haven't sailed such a race either)
Edit: Oh yeah, I also meant to say, aren't the straight-vertical-sides in the aft sections interesting ? Is this something we'll see coming into mainstream designs ? And if so, for good reason or for fashion ?
