Better yet, how about an "artificial celestial sphere"? It would be a big dome with the sextant at the center with an LED display on the inside that shows the current sky without cloud cover or light pollution. It could even show the celestial equator and the horizon. It would use GPS to figure out exactly what the sky should look like from your position....
