NE...yes...they are very light boats suitable for light wind lake sailing but if you get one wishing to learn how to sail I would suggest one of the ones with jib and mainsail like the Skimmer or SunchaserII rather than the Snark model.
My first boat was a Snark and it was a great summer fun boat and easy to learn on and get back upright when you dump her. Also easy to get on and off the top of the car.
One downside is that they are not fiberglass so you can damage them more easily.
