I cannot comment on
rode diameter, but I would comment on braided versus laid
line. These comments are based on my experience, nothing else.
If you have a
windlass, use laid
line; it seems to work better in a rope gypsy.
If you have no
windlass, use braided line; it is much easier on the hands.
