Dragging a trolling lure while sailing is my favorite kind of fishing. Best of both worlds. Dad with a prize from the Gulf Stream last March:
Made for great eating for a couple of tired sailors. He was caught on a bright-colored skirt-type lure, with some weight ahead of the leader. We've also had good luck, especially with Spanish, using Clark spoons and a planer. I can't tell you anything about Dad's rods, other than they're nothing special, just basic trolling reels with audible drag. I love waiting until he's not paying attention, and yanking on the line ... Fish! Just kidding, gotcha.

Who is staring at the sea is already sailing a little.
