If you''ve read former posts on this topic, then you know I like the winged keel on Pearsons. I liked the one on the 27, and bought a P-33 with a wing as well.
I also agree that for your purposes, I wouldn''t fixate on what kind of keel a boat has. Find the boat that suits your needs, one that grabs you, one that won''t go aground every 5 minutes where you''ll be sailing, and take the keel that comes with it. Yes, a deep fin will perform better than a shoal draft, but only if the fin keel stays off the bottom.
The fellow in Annapolis who bought my P-27 keyed in on that particular model because it draws 3''4". His house is on the water, and at low tide at his dock he has........ 3''4" of water. Happy coincidence, huh?
